Jacob Botz (Lancaster, Pennsylvania, active 1775-1790), a superb ink, watercolor, and scherenschnitte fraktur, the central script surrounded by eight hearts with script and highly intricate cutwork of flowers and birds, 12'' x 15''. A similar work by Botz is in the collection of the Free Library of Philadelphia and listed under ''Masterpieces''. The present example remains in near pristine condition with exceptional color and only a few small losses to the cutwork. Provenance: descended in the family to the present owner.
