Important Philadelphia pewter coffee pot, ca. 1780, attributed to William Will, 16" h. While few examples of this form exist, it has remained one the most iconic pieces of American pewter. For similar example see Montgomery A History of American Pewter, fig. 187 and Herr Pewter in Pennsylvania German Churches, figs 35, 53, and 183. One was sold at Pook & Pook, the collection of Lester and Barbara Breininger November 12, 2011, lot 500. Provenance: Jack Levy 1989.
