An important Philadelphia Chippendale mahogany dining chair, ca. 1760, the carving attributed to Nicholas Bernard. A matching chair was sold at Christies, September 23, 2012, lot 51. Sold with the approval of the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit acquisition funds.

Condition

Crack to top rail of splat. Original slip seat. Glue blocks replaced. Holes to inside of side rails from a previous rail that was added and then removed.
