Important Pennsylvania wrought iron pot holder, ca. 1800, from the Sally Ann (Hunter Furnace), Rockland Township, Berks County, the outer ring with volutes and chickens, around an inner ring with profile busts of an African American woman, purportedly the wife of the iron master, 40 1/2" x 43 1/2". Provenance: Descended in the Abraham Biever Hunter family; Purchased in 1998 at the on-site auction for Walp's Restaurant, Bethlehem, where it was displayed in the dining room for many years.

Condition

Walps was located in Allentown, PA (not Bethlehem). Good condition. No apparent damages or repairs.
