Franz de Merlier (American/Belgian 1878-1974), oil on canvas life-sized wall mural depicting Henry Hudson's Half Moon entering Delaware Bay, part of a 1947 series of historic 17th and 18th century Pennsylvania scenes painted for the Boys Department of the Reading, Pennsylvania YMCA, signed and dated lower right, 6'5'' x 9'. Provenance: Acquired directly from the Reading YMCA. Canvas detached from wall with hot wax for 1980 professional restoration, currently peeling, with cracks, frayed canvas edges, and losses, discoloration to canvas bottom.
