Ernst Carl Herwig(Baltimore, Maryland, b. 1801) - Watercolor and ink on paper farm scene depicting a farmhouse and barns, fenced pastures, and rolling hills in the background, signed lower right "E. Herwig I Class 1814, May 21st", 7" x 9 1/2". Herwig was a student at Nazareth Hall, Moravian School for Young Gentlemen beginning in 1811. Provenance: Joseph Kindig, Jr. Other examples by this artist may be found in the collection of the Payne Gallery at Moravian College, Bethlehem, Pa.
