East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania sulphur inlaid walnut shrank, the boldly stepped cornice over a frieze with two cartouches, inscribed "1764 JHK ALBKJ", above double raised panel doors, sides, and molded columns, resting on a base with three sulphur inlaid drawers, believed to be made for Johannes Kauffman and Anna Elisabeth Kauffman, 80" h., 66 1/2" w. Johannes Kauffman and Anna Kauffman Mumma were siblings (lot 183). Pictured in Hess Mennonite Arts page 34. Exhibited at the Heritage Center in Lancaster in 1999.

Condition

Original brasses. Missing one return molding from side of base. One molding detached. Hinges moved. Loss to one escutcheon. Sporadic small losses to inlay. 4" x 1" loss to lower corner of one drawer.
