Early fire pump wagon, ca. 1747. Purportedly made in England for a Philadelphia volunteer fire company. It was in use until the mid 19th c. when it was given to the Pavonia Hose Company #3 in Stockton and subsequently to the William Penn Fire Company #1 in 1900. It was donated to the present institution in 1925. Provenance: Property of a New Jersey Educational Institution.

Condition

Approx. 108" l., 64" h., 52" w. Possibly made in Philadelphia, ca. 1800, by Patrick Lyon. Both handles stamped illegibly with maker's name. Condition not examined.
