Early fire pump wagon, ca. 1747. Purportedly made in England for a Philadelphia volunteer fire company. It was in use until the mid 19th c. when it was given to the Pavonia Hose Company #3 in Stockton and subsequently to the William Penn Fire Company #1 in 1900. It was donated to the present institution in 1925. Provenance: Property of a New Jersey Educational Institution. Approx. 108" l., 64" h., 52" w. Possibly made in Philadelphia, ca. 1800, by Patrick Lyon. Both handles stamped illegibly with maker's name. Condition not examined.
