Delftware blue and white plate dated 1738 with a central circle and the monogram "WEL 1738" surrounded by radiating fronds, 8 7/8" dia. This plate is one of a small number of services made for a group of Chester County Quakers. This plate was most likely made for William and Elizabeth Levis, (William Levis, 1688-1747), (Elizabeth Reed Levis, 1720-1773). Other examples are pictured in Worldly Goods and an identical example is on loan to Winterthur. Provenance: Titus Geesey.

Condition

Crows foot hairline in bottom. A few small rim chips and glaze flakes.
