Dan Campanelli tiger maple flintlock long rifle, dated 1995, .45 caliber, signed on barrel, with heavily relief carved buttstock with brass scrolling line and dot inlay, brass furniture including a two piece engraved patch box, 42" octagonal barrel.

Good condition. No apparent damages or repairs. Dan Campanelli bought the blocks of wood from people at gunmaker's fairs and hand carved them into the rifle after making numerous sketches on tissue paper. He hand-carved out the scrollwork and floral designs. He bought the barrels and locks from people who made those items. He inlaid all the silver and brass lines and cut out the brass designs and inlaid them as well. All of the handwork was done with chisels. He used no power tools. He made up the staining mixtures for the guns and also probably treated the barrels and locks with some chemicals to age them.
