Crewelwork table cover dated 1850, wrought by E. Clarke, 43" x 42". Made from a large piece of homespun with a pieced border. Border has faint evidence of a sawtooth applique that was removed. Some areas of minor staining above bird in upper border and next to trailing vine in lower right. Some loss to stitching in lower left flowers. Small sewn repair. Very slight yellowing around central parrot. No apparent bleeding. May have been reduced when mounted as the extreme edge is seamed to another bordering fabric, which is wrapped around the stretcher frame.
