Connecticut William & Mary painted heart and crown armchair, retaining an old black surface. This chair is attributed to the workshop of Thomas Salmon, Stratford, Connecticut, ca. 1735. A nearly identical example is at the Silas Deane House, Wethersfield, Connecticut.
Surface is mid 20th c. Seat height - 15 3/4". Back legs ended out 2". Black over original brown.
