Connecticut or New York maple and oak banister back armchair, mid 18th c., the downward sloping crest over 5-molded slats, scrolled arms, and sausage turned stretchers, retaining an early black surface. For a similar example, see American Antiques from the Israel Sack Collection vol. IV, pl. 3743. Provenance: Edgar & Charlotte Sittig; Asher J. Odenwelder, Jr., 1958. A copy of the original invoice accompanies lot.
Parts: Information/Letter. Nails added to rear of stiles to secure arms. Same done to secure seat frame. Losses to rush.
