Collection of Civil War ephemera to include the diary of William Chambers Company D, 88th Regiment Pennsylvania, volume and letters to and from Chambers.

Condition

Diary is about 1/3 filled, in ink and some pencil. The first page is dated 8/28/1861. The last page includes a death date of 12/13/1861. Daily log regarding weather, the days orders, where they were marching, outcomes of skirmishes and artillery fire and who was killed. The last page states "This notebook was taken from his body by Sargent W. Fairlamb." Lot also includes letters to and from friends and family. The diary has some loose pages and the binding shows quite a bit of wear. The diary gives the soldier's name as "J.P. Taylor A.C.G. sub.".
