Civil War era muster roll manuscript for the Montgomery Rifle Blues, a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania militia first organized in May, 1850, including the militia bylaws, receipts, and muster rolls in towns around New Hanover, Pennsylvania before and after the Civil War. Before the Civil War, the company was commanded by Samuel Saylor, Sr., and then was reorganized in the 1870's by Samuel Saylor, Jr. This well documented muster roll manuscript details three different Montgomery Rifle Blues companies. Book entries range from 1850-1873. Leather bound with black gilt spine label. 6 1/2" x 3 7/8". Accompanied by several letters from the Historical Society of Montgomery County and a letter from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
