Christian Mertel (Southeastern Pennsylvania, 1739-1802), Dauphin County ink and watercolor fraktur dated 1793 with central script flanked by rampant unicorns and tulip vines below a heart and two crowned lions, retaining a period faux bird's-eye maple decorated frame, 12" x 15 1/2".
Losses to black, especially the chains. Two 3" tears to left and right side. A few other small losses including a small loss to the body of the left unicorn. Period painted frame.
