Chinese carved rosewood pier table, ca. 1840, with a marble inset top and an elaborately carved apron and legs, atop a serpentine base, 32" h., 60 3/4" w. A nearly identical example, though smaller in size, is illustrated in Crossman, Carl, The China Trade, pl. 144. Another related table was sold at Cowan's Auction, February 5, 2011, lot 182.
Depth - 25 1/2". Overall excellent untouched condition. Two age cracks to base. Provenance: The Collection of Captain Hall Jackson Tibbits (1797-1872), Long Island, NY.
