Chester County, Pennsylvania Queen Anne walnut secretary desk, ca. 1760, signed by Joseph Allen, the upper section with a bonnet top, flame finials, and a frieze with applied shell, above two arched raised panel doors, concealing a fitted interior with small drawers, above two candle slides, resting on a lower section with a slant lid, enclosing an ornately fitted interior, with a shell carved prospect door flanked by fluted and flame carved document drawers and small serpentine drawers, above a case with one long drawer above two short drawers and two long drawers, all supported by ogee bracket feet, 99'' h., 39'' w. Condition
Brasses, feet, and finials replaced. Hinges and lock on door replaced. Bottom drawer discolored. Backboards of upper section replaced. Top and bottom possibly associated.
