Chester County, Pennsylvania Quaker silk on linen sampler, dated 1798, inscribed Sarah Walter Daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Walter the latter deceased, members of Kennett Meeting, Goshen Township, with potted plants, birds all within a trailing strawberry and floral vine border. The bands in the upper portion of this sampler are similar to Lydia Hoopes' 1765 piece, worked in Mrs. Hollis' School in Goshen Twp. Chester Co., 16" x 15".
