Chester County, Pennsylvania pieced log cabin quilt, ca. 1850, stitched by Mary M. Shields (1810-1894) of Coatesville, with striped bar borders and chintz backing, 84'' x 86''. Provenance: Descended in the family to the present owner. Exhibited: Chester County Historical Society Layers: Unfolding the Stories of Chester County Quilts 2009.
Overall very good. Some light staining and a couple small tears to backing.
