Chester County Federal mahogany veneer valuables chest, ca. 1805, with an inlaid cornice, bowfront door with elliptical inlays, all resting on French feet, the interior fitted with thirteen drawers, 27" h., 18 1/2" w., 12" dia. Pictured in Schiffer, Chester County Furniture and Its Makers of Chester County, Pennsylvania, plate 155. Provenance: The Collection of Margaret Schiffer.
Condition
3" x 5" patch to top left rear. Small sporadic veneer losses and patches. Large crack in veneer through door front. 2" x 12" patch to one side. Feet replaced.
