Important Charleston, South Carolina ebonized fruitwood bracket clock, ca. 1790, the face signed Jas Jacks Charlestown No513, the backplate with elaborate floral and scrollwork engraving, with a three train movement with a rack of eight bells, 15" x 9 1/2". Few clocks by Jacks survive. He initially worked in Jamaica about 1777 and subsequently moved to New York, Charleston and eventually Philadelphia.
