Exceptional Charles Hoffman (American 1820/21-1882), watercolor landscape titled Hospital and Poorhouse & Lunatick House of Northampton County, signed and dated 1864 in lower right, depicts the most minute details from horse and wagons, to children playing with dogs, as well as readable date stones on all of the buildings, 11 1/4" x 19 3/4". Painting comes with a letter from a conservator stating that while the painting has had no restoration the original mat was badly stained and was replaced with the current cutout views of the writing and original signature, it is not backed with rice paper and not hinged at the top, it is tacked on all four corners.
