Centre County, Pennsylvania painted dower chest, early 19th c., retaining its original flowing tulip vines on a rare blue background with salmon moldings, 25" h., 48" w. For a similar example, see Fabian, The Pennsylvania-German Decorated Chest, fig. 246. Provenance: Descended in the Beahm-Meyer family and remained in the same home in Coburn, PA until 1991.

Condition

Repaired breaks to two feet (not visible). Three scrolled foot returns replaced. Otherwise in good condition with a nice surface. Provenance: Descended in the Beahm-Meyer family and remained in the same home in Coburn, PA until 1991.
