Cased James Woodward & Sons side by side, side lock, under lever double-barrel shotgun, 12 gauge, lower receiver engraved The Automatic-Woodward Patent, with an ornately scroll engraved receiver, tangs and trigger guard, cocking indicator locks, relief chiseled fences with leaves at the breech and a gold-filled bolted indicator, serial #3740, 29" nitro proofed barrels without ejectors. C&R The nitro proofed Damascus barrels have mirror bores and the rib is labeled "The Automatic" and has the Woodward legend and address. The damascing is clear and ornate. The under lever and trigger guard have been reblued and the varnished English walnut stock refinished and checkering re-cut. There is a 7/8" brass escutcheon behind the trigger guard tang. The water table is London and black powder proofed. The pull is 14 3/4" with a 7/8" rubber pad and spacer. The drop is 2" James Woodward marked case. Overall very good condition.
