Boston or Salem, Massachusetts Hepplewhite mahogany secretary, ca. 1805, in two parts, the arched pediment above 2 glazed gothic arch doors, above a central prospect door, flanked by tambour doors over a fall front writing surface, above 2 short and 3 long drawers above a scalloped skirt, supported by French feet with overall double line and unusual barbell inlay, 83" h., 42 1/2" w. A similar inlay by Samuel Barnard of Salem is illustrated in The Work of Many Hands by Hewitt Kane & Ward, fig. 19.
