Boston, Massachusetts silk on linen needlework memorial sampler, inscribed on eglomise mat Wrought at Mrs. Rowson's Academy by Miss Sophia Dudley 1815, the tomb inscribed Sacred to the memory of Benjamin Dudley, obit March 16, 1814, et 21, 21" x 19 1/2". In 1797, Susana Rowson left the theater world to found Mrs. Rowson's Academy for Young Ladies in downtown Boston and remained as head preceptress until 1822.
