Berks County, Pennsylvania painted poplar dower chest, dated 1785, inscribed Eefa Dunckels, the front with two tombstone panels and potted tulips flanked by pillars and heart corners, above three drawers supported by ogee bracket feet, 26'' h., 48'' w. Provenance: Descended in the family to the present owner.
Strap hinges. Lock replaced. Cracks to return moldings. Original brasses. Lacking one bale. Surface abrasions. Provenance: large private NJ collection.
