Berks County, Pennsylvania painted pine Bucher box, 19th c., the lid inscribed U. Fiescher, with overall decoration of red and green flowers on a black ground, 2 1/2'' h., 9 1/4'' w., 8 1/4'' d. For further reference, see Garvan Pennsylvania German Collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art pg. 11. A similar example was sold in the Henry Deyerle collection, Sotheby's, May 1995, lot 586. Provenance: James Glazer, 1980.
Expected wear, heavier to lid. One hinge broken.
