August W. Bradford, Governor of Maryland gold plated presentation walking stick, dated Dec. 25th, 1863, Governor Bradford was an active Whig politician and an earnest Unionist during the Civil War in 1861, elected as a delegate to the Peace Congress, elected Governor 1862-1866, July of 1864 confederate raiders burned his house, 1864 he was influential in securing the adoption of the new Constitution of Maryland abolishing slavery, 32 3/4" l.
