American watercolor portrait of President James Buchanan, inscribed verso Drawn from life at Wheatland February 10th 1866, 10'' x 8''. Wheatland served as Buchanan's home until he was elected president in 1856. He returned in 1860 towards the end of his term. Provenance: Descended in an Eastern Shore, Maryland family, purchased in 1948.
