American walnut Queen Anne easy chair, ca. 1760, possibly Virginia, with a curved crest rail, outward flaring arms and compass-form seat supported by cabriole front legs terminating in pad feet. The legs, seat rail and other woods are American black walnut, one rear stile is American live oak, which suggest a coastal origin of this chair. Provenance: Descended in the Dashiel family of Virginia until sold at auction in Slaughter Beach, Delaware in 1983. A complete report from Allan Miller is available.
