American School(early 19th c.), watercolor on ivory miniature portrait of Peter Muhlenberg, son of Revolutionary War General John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg, dressed in uniform and housed in a gold locket, inscribed "Peter Muhlenberg March 20th 1787", 1 3/4" x 1 1/4". Provenance: Descended in the family of the sitter.
Small dent in upper front of frame, solder mark where pendant loop missing on top of frame. Solid miniature on reverse and brooch on back. Overall good condition.
