American Chippendale walnut dining chair, ca. 1790, the serpentine carved crest over a pierced and carved splat, over a trapezoidal slip seat supported by molded marlborough legs, retaining old paper label stating that this chair belonged to General George Washington and was taken from Arlington House by Quartermaster's Department during the Civil War. Information regarding this attribution accompanies chair.

Crest reattached. Shim added to shoe. Shoe has patch to end. Rear stretcher cracked. Repaired cracks to knee. Pins added to leg at seat rail.
