American birds-eye maple sewing box, early 19th c., the lift tray top lid hand decorated with a basket of flowers and the front with a floral and leaf decoration, the ends with a cornucopia of grapes and flowers opening to a compartmented interior with pincushions, sewing needles, pins, etc., all resting on delicate bun feet, 6" h., 12 1/2" w. Provenance: Jim Donahue, Port Murray, New Jersey.

Condition

Box - interior lift out tray lacking bottom board and lacking corner supports for tray. Accessories: clamp on pin cushion lacking applied circular decoration on front, 1/4" loss to cardboard edge molding; roll case has some stains, minor wear to interior; wooden pot pin cushion has losses to fabric top; shoe has bend to sole.
